Back Order Domains
Old domain names that have not been renewed will get deleted from the registry after a certain period of time (the deletion time & process varies from registry to registry).
Some of these old domain names may have value (both financial and/or for SEO purposes) and as such there may be competition for names so it is essential to back order these domains rather than wait for the deletion date and try to place an order.
This back order process is also known as drop catch.
